Low Alwinton Cottages are located at the heart of Northumberland, nestled in the Cheviot Hills and alongside the banks of the River Coquet there isn't a more scenic area to enjoy a relaxing holiday. Our picturesque setting is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the whole of the British Isles and is an ideal location to spend a country break. The rolling hills and forests make the perfect setting for walking and hiking with a wide variety of established hiking routes starting just a short distance from the cottages. If you are looking for a slightly faster way to take in the views, the quiet, winding roads make for excellent cycling paths from where you can enjoy the northumberland countryside and have the chanc to stop by the small towns and villages along the way.
Outside of Low Alwinton Cottages quaint surroundings there is always plenty to do in and around the Northumberland area with events and attractions running all year round. From the magic of Hogwarts at Alnwick Castle, the delights of the Alnwick Gardens & a host of tea rooms and shopping opportunities, Alnwick is a popular destination for local tourists. Not too far from the cottages lies the town of Rothbury, a peaceful town where the River Coquet meanders through the centre, creating a pleasant walk along the river bank. You can enjoy a good range of traditional shops, tea rooms & pubs. And within an hours drive of the cottages you can get back to the hustle and bustle of city life by with a trip into Newcastle or head to the beach to enjoy a day at the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Beauty.
Our cottages lie outside of the nearby village of Alwinton, a few miles beyond the town of Rothbury. Our quiet setting is perfect for a relaxing break away but it does mean we can be a little less straightforward to find. If you are using SatNav you can enter our postcode NE65 7BE and it should take you right to us, but for more specific directions we have a short description here.
Low Alwinton Cottages are self-catering accommodation, this means that you will need to bring your own provisions. Your accommodation will be equipped with bedding, pillows and bed linen, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Towels are supplied. For cottages with log burners there may be an initial supply of logs available, however it is advised that you do supply your own. These can be purchased in the nearby town of Rothbury if you do not have access to any.
