We offer two ways to book your stay at Low Alwinton Cottages. Firstly you can use our secure online booking portal, this is found through the Book Now link at the top of each page or through the Book Your Stay buttons found with the details of each cottage. You can also call us on 0191 3008689 during office hours and speak to a member of our team who will be able to assist you with your booking.
We charge a £100 deposit for each cottage that is payable at the time of booking. The full balance of your booking is due 6 weeks before your arrival date.
Any booking made within 6 weeks of the arrival date is required to pay the full booking cost up front.
When booking through our website you will be required to pay the deposit for your booking as part of the booking process. Final payment can be through our website’s make a payment link, this is handled securely through PayPal. You can also make a BACS payment, the details for this will be sent to you 6 weeks prior to your booking and can be made available on request.
Cancellations can be made at any time prior to your arrival by getting in touch with us, however if you are cancelling less than 6 weeks prior to your arrival date you will be liable for payment of up to 100% of your booking cost.
We try to set out our prices and availability a year in advance of any possible bookings, however if we do not have any availability set for the dates you are looking for please give us a call on 0191 3008689 and we will be able to accommodate you.
We send out arrival instructions to all guests 1 week prior to your stay which include written directions to the cottages, but you can also find directions to Low Alwinton Cottages on our How to find us page.
The keys for your cottage are found in a secure lock box when you arrive, which you will be given access to as part of your arrival instructions.
Our traditional check in time is 3 pm and check out time is 10 am. You are free to arrive after or leave before at your own convenience.
There is parking on site for 1 car at each of our cottages. If you require more space than this please get in touch with us so we can arrange more space for your stay.
All of the properties in our collection are self-catering, this means that you will need to bring your own provisions. Your accommodation will be equipped with bedding, pillows and bed linen, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Towels are supplied.
For cottages with log burners there may be an initial supply of logs available, however it is advised that you do supply your own. These can be purchased in the nearby town of Rothbury if you do not have access to any.
We can provide travel cots and highchairs on request, this can be done as part of your booking or by getting in touch with us prior to your arrival date.
Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside any of our cottages.
All of our cottages are pet friendly with the exception of Byre Cottage. We do, however, require prior notification if you having multiple pets so we can assess whether the property is suitable for your needs.
There is no additional fee for bringing a pet.
Most of our cottages do include wireless access, properties with wireless internet access will show it in the description. However, due to the remoteness of the internet access may intermittent or even on occasion unavailable for a short period of time. As in most properties the strength of the wireless signal can vary throughout the property and in some of our older properties the thickness of the walls may prevent wireless internet access in certain rooms or areas on site, so please bear this in mind – where we can we will let you know about these. If this is important to you and you are unsure about the quality of internet access in a particular property then please get in touch.
As the river runs through the farmland adjacent to our cottages, you require a permit from the farmer in order to fish. His house is a short walk from the cottages.
Yes, during your stay you can arrange grocery deliveries to the property, both ASDA and Sainsbury's deliver to the Low Alwinton Cottages.
Please note: Deliveries must be scheduled for times when you are at the property during your stay with us, we cannot accept any delivery prior to your arrival and we cannot guarantee any delivery if you are not at the cottages when they arrive.
There will be a set of important contact details in your cottage on arrival, including a direct contact number for Low Alwinton Cottages. You can also find our office number and out of hours number on our contact page.
There is no additional fee for any fuel or heating costs, however if you are in a cottage with a log burner you will be required to supply the logs yourself.
We ask that the property is left in the same state of cleanliness and general order as found.
We understand that a certain amount of wear and tear is inevitable and this applies to the odd smashed glass or broken plate.
However, if you cause any damage, accidental or otherwise, to the property please us as soon as possible. During your stay, you are liable for any damage you or a member of your party cause to the property and / or its content sand may need to arrange to make any damage payment directly with us.
